(1)基數詞變序數詞的規(guī)律：基變序，有規(guī)律。

一、二、三、特殊記，詞尾字母t，d，d.(first， second， third)。

八減t，九去e，(eighth， ninth)， f 來把ve 替。(twelfth)。

單詞ty 作結尾，ty 變成tie(twentieth)。

1)表示事物的編號：

如：the ninth part = part nine 第九部分

the Fourth Lesson = Lesson Four 第四課

2)表示年月日： "年”用基數詞，“日用序數詞”。

例如：1949 年10 月1 日—寫法： Oct.。1， 1949.

讀做：Oct. (the ) first， nineteen forty-nine.

2009 年3 月28 日—寫法： March 27， 2009.

讀作： March， (the) twenty-seventh， two thousand and nine.

3)表示時間：

10:30 am. 讀作：at half past ten in the morning

4)表示“加減乘除”：
