Notwithstanding和 despite 用中文說(shuō)出來(lái)都是盡管、不管、雖然等，但despite只可以當(dāng)前置詞用，而notwithstanding 又是前置詞又是副詞。

例如下面一句：

Despite his busy schedule, he always finds the time to see his girlfriend. 盡管他的工作很忙，他一定會(huì)找出時(shí)間去見(jiàn)女朋友。

在這里，despite 可以用notwithstanding 代替：

Notwithstanding his busy schedule, he always finds the time to see his girlfriend .

而且，notwithstanding 可以放在斷句的后面，而despite 卻不可：

His busy schedule notwithstanding, he always finds the time to see his girlfriend.

還有一點(diǎn)需要注意，因?yàn)?notwithstanding 和despite 都是前置詞， 短句一定要以名詞（his busy schedule）寫(xiě)出來(lái)。 否則，像下面的句子就文法不通：

Despite/Notwithstanding he is very busy, he always finds the time to see his girlfriend.
